A weekend of women’s sport dominated by Koreans

Koreans seem to have been dominating the world of women’s golf for quite a while (just take a look at the LPGA page showing tournament winners), so it was no surprise that they did well in the British Open (30 July – 2 August). But it was quite an achievement that the top four names on the leaderboard were all Korean (including the New Zealander Lydia Ko).

And in the middle of the British Open, the Women’s FA Cup final took place (1 August) – the first one to be held at Wembley. The first and only goal was scored by Chelsea’s Ji So-yun.

Ji was named PFA Women’s Players’ Player of the Year 2015 back in April this year, when Chelsea manager Emma Hayes commented: “She is a fantastic young playmaker who has the ability to control a game.”
